» Ranken's President
Ben Ernst has more than 30 years of administrative experience with Ranken Technical
College. His career has strengthened the standards and integrity of St. Louis’
leading technical college. In 1972, Mr. Ernst began his Ranken career
as an auditor and eventually served in a variety of positions, including financial
secretary and assistant director. He assumed the role of college director in 1986,
a title that was later changed to president when Ranken received its regional
accreditation in 1989.
Mr. Ernst spearheaded the College’s process of regional accreditation with the Higher Learning Commission and the College's becoming a member of the North Central Association
of Colleges and Schools, making Ranken the first private, two-year, non-profit technical
college to be accepted by the regional accrediting body.
Under his leadership
and thanks to strong alliances with St. Louis’ top employers, the college
has established an unprecedented 98 percent job placement rate for students
within six months of graduation, in their career of choice.
In addition to his experience with Ranken, Mr. Ernst has served as president
of the Mississippi and Gulf States Region of the American Technical Education
Association, president of the Missouri Association of Private Career Schools
and member of the Metropolitan Coordinating Council. Currently, he sits on the
membership committee of the St. Louis Rotary Club.
A resident of Lake St. Louis, Mr. Ernst earned a bachelor’s degree from
the University of Missouri-St. Louis, an MBA degree from Saint Louis University
and gained experience in electronics while in the U.S. Air Force.
